run very well to good for blowen head gasket or intake leaking coolent throu ex. it will still smoke the tires any idea this ex wrench twister i’m stumped unless it a cracked block under head to cylinder wall witch fires throw water out cylinder wall after the plug fire it and then throw it out ex.the system to an frog steam any idea gang..it’s has .204k and still strong running but it’s getting impossible to keep water in it oh and it the 4.9 north starr would run this long it been ising wather all it life it just now getting impossible to keep water in her shame to retire and outstanding eng using no oil for man defult
yes not 92 northstsr eng in the sts was replaced to 4.9 but problem still there why anit-freeze steaming out tail pipe if u use plane water in summer time still same problem same way throw pipes.in last couple month it got worst also could the termo-stat be sticking to built up presser to increass the problem..motor reason for using to much water not because not because it not a north start it was replaced with a better eng if it was a northstar it never last a 1/3 of this motor life still stumped on this 1
It could be all of the things you mentioned. No matter which one it is it’s an expensive fix but they were cool.

Hey yoyo. Cadillac made no STS in 1992. The 4.9 engine was not the NorthStar engine. It is probably using water because you ignored the factory instructions to change coolant every year and add a can of stop leak at that time. The iron heads cannot be made to seal well on the aluminum block. It is not only aluminum but has floating cylinder liners which will float if you allow the engine to overheat or do not add the appropriate sealer each year. You might try adding sealer and retorquing the head bolts. If you pull the heads off you better have the Cadillac tool handy to hold the cylinders in place.
